Recruiting Update | MN HS Tournament
The Bulldogs have three recruited players that are currently, or just finished, playing Minnesota High School Hockey. Playoffs have begun so I'll show you how tUMD's recruits fared in the regular season, how they have been playing in playoffs, and how their journey to the state championship may look.
tUMD Bulldog Recruits playing Minnesota High School Hockey...
Unfortunately for Adam Johnson and the Hibbing Bluejackets, they fell 3-2 to Duluth Marshall last Saturday. It was Hibbing's second game into the tournament as they blew by North Shore 5-1 last Thursday.
Johnson had an impressive postseason never-the-less by scoring four goals in the combined two games. Johnson, who is projected to join the Bulldogs next year, had one helluva season in Hibbing and I would assume he would join the Indiana Ice, the USHL team who owns his rights, as soon as he can to play out the remainder of the season.
A look at Adam's statistics while with the Bluejackets:
Karson Kuhlman's junior season ended when the fell to Duluth East 3-0 just last weekend. So unfortunately for the Lumberjacks, their season is over but Karson has another year left of high school hockey, if that is the route he chooses to take.
Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL currently owns Kuhlman's rights in which he could very well go play with the Saints for the remainder of the hockey season. He has played with the team before, tallying four points in just five games.
A look at Karson's statistics as a Lumberjack so far:
Neal Pionk and the Hermantown Hawks are still alive and prospering in the 2012-'13 playoffs. Last Saturday they were able to top off Rogers by a victory margin of 9-0. They square off against St. Cloud Cathedral on Friday at the Ice Forum in Champlin, MN in hopes to keep their state title hopes alive.
Pionk's USHL rights are currently owned by the Sioux City Musketeers where I would assume he would venture too after this season is done. Whether he decides to stay in Hermantown or stick with USHL is his choice. Pionk has been able to tally very nice stats as a defenseman so far with Hermantown, and being in his junior year, has time to add to the already impressive numbers.
A look at Neal's statistics as a Hawk so far:
We wish Neal and the Hermantown Hawks the best of luck on their "Trek to the X" and hopefully will be able to watch the Hawks skate down in St. Paul.
I will update on the Hawks as they move farther into the tournament.
Enjoy.
