Bulldog Commits Shake NHL Draft

It was a big day for the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs family.  Two future Bulldogs were selected in this year's NHL draft, giving the Bulldogs a grand total of six NHL prospects for this year's season.

Incoming freshman Carson Soucy was the first commit to be drafted, going to the Minnesota Wild in the 5th round.  Soucy, the 137th pick overall, will join the Bulldogs this upcoming season.

Future Bulldog Blake Heinrich, picked 144th overall in the 5th round, was selected by the Washington Capitals.  The Sioux City Musketeer (USHL) will mostly likely join the Bulldogs for the 2014-15 season.

These two recruits will join Joe Basaraba (Florida), Caleb Herbert (Washington), Tony Cameranesi (Toronto) and Andy Welinski (Anaheim) as Bulldogs whom have been drafted by NHL teams.

Pictured below is both of these two recruits.  Congratulations to them both on their career accomplishments.  We at Bulldog Country look forward to watching their talent grow in Pup sweater!

2013 Draft Day Guide

Happy Draft Day!

For today's draft, which starts in a matter of minutes, actually, I'll give you a few links in which you'll be able to follow along if you'd like.

First off, the draft can be viewed on NBC Sports Network and TSN.  Although I believe to view those channels one must have either cable or satellite tv, it is an option none the less.

Follow Western College Hockey's live blog for great quotes and coverage here.

I'll be tweeting the action here, while Western College Hockey will tweet it here!
