WCHA Saturday:
North Dakota 4 at Minnesota 4
Bemidji State 2 at Michigan Tech 2 OT
Denver 1 at St. Cloud State 5
Minnesota Duluth 1 at Colorado College 5
Minnesota State 4 at Alaska Anchorage 0
Miami 2 at Wisconsin 1
So who's on their "A" game?
I think teams cooled off this weekend if anything. The more "hot" teams like Minnesota, who came into the series with Minnesota on a 5-game win streak, and Wisconsin, who entered their non-conference series on a 11-game unbeaten streak, fell to Miami 2-1 on Saturday night. Obviously these teams are still hot. Especially Minnesota, being they did in fact take 3 points from a very good North Dakota team.
A new team to enter the ranks after the weekend is St. Cloud State. The Huskies swept the Denver Pioneers at home, outscoring them 10-3. It was the first time since November of 2008 that Denver has been swept by a team from the WCHA, and the last team that accomplished it? St. Cloud State. So the Huskies earn the hottest team this week, but Minnesota State took 3 points from Alaska Anchorage and Michigan Tech also took 3 points at home from Bemidji State which also earned a little bit of honors from the Bulldog Hockey Blog.
Around the NCAA:
Some of the top ranked teams definitely struggled this weekend with teams that they maybe should not have had any difficulty defeating. Notre Dame's struggles continued this week as they were swept by unranked Alaska. Boston College fell to Massachusetts 5 to 3 on Friday, but turned it around on Saturday when they demolished Northeastern 9-3. New Hampshire fell to Providence 6-5 on Saturday as well; it was their second loss within the last 10 days.
