UMD to Participate in Ice Breaker Tourney

College Hockey Inc. just released information to the 2014-15 & 2015-16 Ice Breaker Tournament.

The tournament, which is managed by College Hockey Inc., is usually the very first hockey tournament to kick off the new season.  They recently released information revealing that Notre Dame will host the tournament for the 2014-15 season and Maine will host to start the 2015-16 season.

“The Ice Breaker will be visiting two fantastic venues in 2014 and ’15, arenas that showcase college hockey in their own unique way,” said Mike Snee, Executive Director of College Hockey Inc. “We are thrilled to work with Notre Dame and Maine on these tournaments and look forward to celebrating the start of the 2014 and ’15 seasons in these terrific settings.”
Notre Dame's Compton Family Ice Arena will host the school's first Ice Breaker Tournament with Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth, and RPI all in attendance.

Information pertaining to the teams involved in the 2015 tournament have yet to be released, but Maine's Cumberland County Civic Center should be finished up with renovations to the facility just in time for the annual tournament.

UMD participated in the tournament back in 2003 when Michigan State hosted Boston College and Findlay.  Unfortunately the Dogs ended up losing the first night and finishing with a tie, giving them a winless status throughout the two games played in the tournament.
